Meadowlife Process Modifications Project, Middlesex County Utilities Authority
Spectraserv is under contract to install a new sludge pasteurization process consisting of thermal drying equipment, sludge conveying and handling equipment, process piping, electrical and instrumentation systems, sludge storage/feed silos and pasteurizer process equipment.
The fully automated system will accept dewatered cake from the MCUA's existing belt filter presses and further dewater the sludge via new thermal dryers. Admixtures will then be combined with the thermally dried sludge cake to produce a “pasturized” finished product providing the MCUA with more cost effective disposal options.
A total of five individual trains or sections will be constructed to provide flexiblity in sludge feed rates and system variables. The installation will be the first of its kind in North America and is scheduled for completion in June 2005. |
